PLEASE SPONSOR Brodie Tokios Amount Raised $3,865.00 Fundraising Goal $2,500.00 DONATE NOW My Message On the first of April I will be embarking on my newest adventure called the Tour of New Zealand. I will be racing for Ricoh and raising funds for the Unicorn Foundation. I hope that from this message you will support me as I strive to spread awareness and raise funds for NETS, a cancer in which one New Zealander is diagnosed with each day, an illness which costs 50,000 dollars to treat and an illness in which the closest place to receive any treatment is Melbourne. As you may know I have always been into sports and adventures and over the last few years my love for challenges has grown. In 2015 my dad told me that he was going to be doing the Tour of New Zealand in the North Island which was a 700km cycle starting from Cape Reinga to Wellington. When I heard this I immediately asked if I could ride too although I had absolutely no idea about what the Tour of New Zealand stood for. Sadly even after all of my pleading and begging dad said I couldn't join him, however promised that I may have the opportunity in the future. Well.... Here I am with the opportunity to be one of the 150 riders privileged enough to have a slot in the South Island 2017 tour of New Zealand where we would be riding from Queenstown to Wellington covering 700km In 7 days. Although this would be a wonderful accomplishment on its own, I am not doing it for my own enjoyment. Instead I will be riding for the Unicorn Foundation to raise funds for Net cancer. Net Cancers are tumours that can start anywhere in the body and affects anyone at any age. One Kiwi is diagnosed every day and NET Cancers are more common than Brain, Ovarian or Cervical Cancer. Thousands of New Zealanders are affected by NET Cancer. Currently the nearest treatment is in Melbourne Australia and costs $50,000. The Tour of New Zealand and the riders for the Unicorn Foundation are hoping to change that and bring the treatment here to New Zealand. I have been fortunate enough to be sponsored by Ricoh who will be covering all of my travel costs throughout the event however in return I will be hoping to raise at least $2000 to give to the unicorn foundation. However I cannot do this by myself and hope that you will be willing to join my team and help me raise for the unicorn foundation so that we will be able to bring the treatment to New Zealand and raise awareness for this awesome foundation. Every dollar raised will go straight to The Unicorn Foundation as all of our riding costs have been covered by the generous support of Ricoh New Zealand. For more information go to www.unicornfoundation.org.nz. You can also check out the tour at www.tourofnewzealand.co.nz, and have a peek at the video clips. I'd love to hear from you and hopefully you can help and be a part of this amazing cause. You can either email me at brodie_tokios@xtra.co.nz or call me on 021 0232 5858.
