Thanks for checking out my donations page. As I write this, there is less than one month to go before I embark on an epic ride: a ride that will take me from Invercargill to Picton.
Am I ready for this? I think not! But I will get it done, and with your help we will raise funds for the Unicorn Foundation, a charity dedicated to help New Zealanders diagnosed with a type of cancer known as NETs (neuro endocrine tumours).
With one Kiwi diagnosed every day with NET cancer, it is more common than cervical, ovarian or brain cancers. It is the cancer that killed Steve Jobs.
So, why did I choose this cause? Because my good mate Malcolm was diagnosed with NETs back in 2011. He was lucky enough and organized enough and pragmatic enough and educated enough to work his way through the medical system and visit Melbourne for treatment. As a result, not only is Malcolm still with us, but he’ll also be riding the tour in 2017. It is a privilege to be on the ride with him.
In 2015 Unicorn Foundation raised enough money through the Tour of NZ to establish a new type of scanner in New Zealand. The next step is to raise money to help create a treatment centre in New Zealand so kiwis don’t have to raise up to $50,000 each to receive their cancer treatment in Melbourne.
Our challenge is to complete the near 700km cycle from Invercargill to Picton and to contribute to this very worthy cause with your help.
Every dollar will make a huge difference so please support us as we embark on this important and worthy challenge.
Thank you very much for your support.
