We are returning to the Tour Of New Zealand riding the length of the South Island (Two years ago we rode the North Island) in support of the 'Unicorn FoundationNZ' to help promote and raise awareness of Neuroendocrine cancers. With a connection to the disease via our close personal friend Dr. Malcolm Legget who has been affected by the above, we have thrown our hearts into helping this cause by raising funds where possible.
Unicorn Foundation NZ is a charity dedicated to creating a centre of excellence to help New Zealanders diagnosed with a type of cancer known as NETs (neuro endocrine tumours).
With one Kiwi diagnosed every day with NET cancer, it is more common than cervical, ovarian or brain cancers and is the cancer which killed Apple’s Steve Jobs.
In 2015, Unicorn Foundation NZ raised enough money through the Tour of NZ to establish a new type of scanner for the first time in New Zealand. The next step is to raise money to help create a centre for latest treatments in New Zealand so kiwis don’t have to raise up to $50,000 each to receive their cancer treatment in Melbourne.
Unicorn, named for the ancient symbol of hope, offers support and help to patients and their families. Our challenge is to complete the near 700km cycle from Invercargill to Wellington and to contribute to this very worthy cause with your help.
Any donations made to this site would be greatly appreciated and will go a long way to helping many, many New Zealanders recieve care and preventitive treatment hence avoiding costly oversaeas travel.
Thank you very much for your support.
