FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

 

Q1. HOW CAN I JOIN A TEAM?

A. To join a team, you must first sign up for the event. While in "Step 2 - Registration Type" select the option to either Join a Team or Create a Team.

If you have already registered to Walking Home 2018, simply click the "Sponsor a Walker" button on the homepage and enter the team name under the Team Search tab. Then simply follow the link to the Team Homepage and click "Join Team".

 

Q2. IF I LEAVE MY BELONGINGS AT THE STARTING LINE, HOW DO I COLLECT THEM?

A. We only have the ability to take small items back to the finish. If possible, come prepared with a small backpack for the Walk.

 

Q3. WHAT HAPPENS IF I STOP DURING THE WALK AND CANNOT GO ON?

A. We have staff and volunteers located throughout the walk. Just mention to any of the staff or volunteers that you need assistance and we will get our transport vehicle to pick you up.

 

Q4. WHAT HAPPENS IF I GET INJURED, STOP, OR WANT TO LEAVE?

A. At any stage during the walk you feel the need to stop, get injured, or leave the walk, that is fine. You just need to contact a staff member or volunteer to let us know. We have trained mobile first aid on hand throughout the walk and out staff and volunteers will contact these people to assist you ASAP.

 

Q5. IS THERE WATER, FOOD AND TOILETS ALONG THE WAY?

A. Yes, we supply water, food and toilets throughout the walk and our staff or volunteers can assist you to locate these throughout the walk.

 

Q6. WHERE AND WHEN DO I GET MY WALKING HOME TOP?

A. Custom made Walking Home tops can be collected at the start of your walk at the checkpoint or at 35 Myers St, Geelong. Please check this page regularly for updates on the delivery date.  Beanies can also be purchased for $15.

 

Q7. DO I NEED TO TRAIN?

A. Yes, especially if you are walking the whole 37kms. Make sure you have good shoes and even bring a change of socks. For any training tips, contact Geelongs Gym for some great ideas. You can also participate in Geelongs Gym training program. 

 

Q8. CAN I REGISTER ON THE DAY?

A. Yes, we are more than happy for you to join us on the day and register at any of the starting locations.

 

Q9. WHAT HAPPENS AFTER I REGISTER?

A. After you have registered, you should receive a confirmation email with your username and a link to your personal fundraising page. From this page, you can email your friends and family to encourage them to either support you by being a sponsor or get them to join you by signing up to the walk.

Q10. IF I DO NOT WISH TO WALK CAN I STILL DONATE TO THE EVENT?

A. Yes you certainly can! On our event homepage there is a donate now button, or if you have a friend walking just search for their name in 'Sponsor a Walker' and donate to them or a team.
